Why do we love this wine?

We’re big fans of albariño at the ‘fo. If you are not familiar with this charming Atlantic variety - here are the basics: it’s from the Galicia region in northwest Spain where it grows well in the cool climate. It’s brightly aromatic and varies from elegant to opulent (when lees stirring is used to build texture). And finally - it pairs wonderfully with the region’s seafood.

On to this wine - Abadía do Seixo have deep roots in the Rías Baixas, reaching back to the time of the Celts, and really know what they are doing. The wine is elegant, super-aromatic and layered, all at once. It has a lifted nose with citrus oil, nectarines and fresh herbs. The palate is fruit-forward and will be familiar to a New World drinker. It’s equal parts bright and mellow with stone fruit and lemon pith.  Pair with octopus or clams, and you have yourself a feast!
