Silvano Follador Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG 2019
- Crisp, fine
- Prosecco DOC
“This is next level Prosecco from a cult producer - zero dosage with amazing drive and energy” - John, head of buying.
When we say NEXT LEVEL PROSECCO, we are not exaggerating. The siblings Silvano and Alberta Follador work their family land organically and have a winemaking philosophy that is nothing short of first class. According to their website (which is easy to get lost in, reading about their wonderful work) they make “wines that are as natural as possible without, however, denying those processes indispensable for guaranteeing the precise, clear-cut and refined expression we strive for.”
So, it all sounds great - but what is the wine like? In one word: serious. In two words: seriously delicious. It is a zero dosage sparkling that has spent 16 months on lees and is what we’d know as a Brut style. Bone dry, complex and speaking of place. See the Decanter review below for more.
“The young and talented Silvano Follador makes wines which are never obvious and can even be slightly daunting with their bone-dry intensity, but they have a subtle complexity which few other Proseccos can match. Delicate wild herbs on the nose, light and airy at first on the palate but then firm and long with an elegant tension between the dry savoury tones and the peach and cherry fruit.”
