Why do we love this wine?

The team at Kreglinger are a bit obsessive about their Tassie fizz. I took a deep dive into the notes for this wine and was swimming in terms like kraznozems, water holding capacity and vertical shoot positioning. As a wine geek myself, this painted a picture of some seriously specific and pedantic growing techniques.

But if you don’t want to get bogged down in the details, you can just absorb these highlights: 60% pinot noir and 40% chardonnay from a vineyard in Pipers Brook, Tasmania is hand harvested in the cool of the morning, sifted through to isolate the best fruit, and taken through the Traditional Method before three years of bottle ageing. You’ll find aromas of lemon, pear, red apple and brioche leading to a palate of lemon custard, strawberry and toast. The bead is quite fine, the texture creamy and there’s a brimming energy about the whole wine. I suppose it pays to be detail-oriented.
