Tinazzi Opera N.3 2020
- Rich, full-bodied
- Italy
The Oxford Dictionary defines Opera as ‘a dramatic work in one or more acts’. This definition leads me to conclude that this wine was absolutely perfectly named. From the uber-luxurious packaging (you could do a pretty solid workout with these weighty bottles) to the layers of dark fruit, interwoven with spice and oak - it is indeed dramatic! From Tinazzi who work in the north and south of Italy, this is possibly the most impressive rosso blend you’ll ever try.
Profile
The wine is dark and big in every way with stewed fruit, tootsie roll caramel, rosemary and thyme. If you are into plush, velvety, teeth-reddening, full bodied and luxurious reds - this is not to be missed. I enjoyed my bottle over the course of a week and the wine got better with air and was holding up very well at day five.
Reviews
Decanter Magazine
“Delightful blend of red and black fruits aromas. Plenty of plush sweetness on the palate. Fresh typical Primitivo dominated blend.”

Italian wine regions are by far some of the most difficult to learn about. With over 350 official wine varieties, it can be very easy to get lost. Never fear though, you'll see some of your old friends such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese as well as some new friends such as Chianti, Arneis, Fiano, Nebbiolo and Vermentino. Italian wines are a match made in heaven for food, but can easily be enjoyed on their own. Good food and good wine - THAT is the Italian way.
