Syrah 2018 – Black Market Deal #35679
- Textured, savoury
- Yarra Valley
Here’s one I’m really stoked about. I’m usually not a sucker for packaging, but it all starts there. There’s a gorgeous label, wax-dipped neck and a bottle that screams classy. The wine is appropriately labelled as syrah, a nod to the medium-bodied weight of the wine, the silky mouthfeel and a savouriness drawn from whole bunch pressing. The nose is of red fruits and roses and the palate carries pepper, spice and earthiness. If you are into cool climate shiraz, this is the complete package. Plus it’s made by one of Victoria’s most sought after winemakers. What more could you ask for?
