Syrah 2011 – Black Market Deal #36311
- Textured, savoury
- Hawke's Bay
After trying for years, we’ve finally gotten this producer on board for the Black Market. They are considered a Hawke’s Bay institution and a benchmark for the Kiwi wine industry. They’ve opened their cellar to us and we’ve grabbed some museum syrah. After nine years of ageing in ideal conditions, this wine is really hitting its stride with aromas of black currants, baking spices and cocoa. There’s a fruit sweetness on the palate showing blackberries and plums, and the finish is driven by fine-grained tannins. Our love is unrecoited no longer.
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
Full price $45.00 from the producer.
Mofo member price is always best price, 100% Happiness Guaranteed. If you find a better price to buy this wine elsewhere, contact our customer team now and we’ll beat it.

Hawke's Bay is New Zealand's oldest wine region, with climate similar to Bordeaux and Sancerre in France. It's no surprise then that their best wines happen to be Cabernet blends and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as Syrah. Unfortunately, most of this gets slurped up within NZ, and we have to bang down doors to get some over to Australia. Lucky for you mofos, we're pretty good at this.
