Shiraz Cabernet 2016 – Black Market Deal #35218
- Textured, savoury
- Wrattonbully
Big, bold and bright! It’s that classic Aussie combo of shiraz and cabernet, straight from Wrattonbully, the region with maybe the coolest name in Australia (one could argue for Tumbarumba though). Coonawarra is just to its southwest, but seems to get more hype. Anyways, the grapes enjoy a surprisingly cool-climate influence, leading to impressive structure in cabernet and condensed flavours in shiraz. Combining the two varietals gives you the best of both worlds with intense red fruit and spice, held together by soft, yet quite present tannins. No wonder us Aussies perfected this blend.

Region
Wrattonbully
Located between Coonawarra and Padthaway, Wrattonbully accounts for 2,600 hectares of vineyards. The dominant grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot and Chardonnay. Many larger Australian producers seek out grapes from the region as the soil is close to that of the Coonawarra's famous Terra Rossa red soil.
