This is serious Shiraz, Mofo. The legendary Rosenvale winery was established all the way back in 1850’s, and generations of the Rosenzweig family have since tended to Barossa vineyards. They know what they're doing by now, making fantastic shiraz like this is child's play to these folk.

Why do we love this wine?

James Rosenzweig is now the 6th generation to take care of vines in Barossa, and has earned himself the neat ol’ title of a Baron of Barossa for his dedication to the region’s industry. His ability to tend to A Grade vineyards and make high calibre wines is an immense skill. This single vineyard shiraz from the Stockwell Rise parcel is all about outstanding fruit quality: fresh blackberries and plums intertwined with cherry ripe complexities. The tannins are decadent, making every sip as fulfilling as the last. What a ripper wine, it's quite unbelievable that we can offer it to you at this price.

Frequently Asked Questions

This single vineyard Shiraz comes from the prestigious Stockwell Rise parcel, crafted by James Rosenzweig, a 6th generation Barossa winemaker and Baron of Barossa. The single vineyard designation means all grapes come from one exceptional site, allowing the terroir's unique characteristics to shine through. This focused approach typically produces more concentrated flavours and greater complexity than blended regional wines, explaining why it achieved an outstanding 97 points from Wine Orbit.

Serve this wine at 16-18°C to allow its rich blackberry, plum and cherry ripe flavours to fully express themselves. The decadent tannins and full-bodied structure make it perfect for hearty dishes like grilled lamb, beef steaks, or aged cheeses. Consider decanting for 30-60 minutes before serving to soften the tannins and enhance the cedar and cocoa notes that develop with aeration.

The 2022 vintage in Barossa was characterised by excellent growing conditions that produced wines with exceptional fruit concentration and balance. This relatively recent vintage means you're getting a wine at its youthful peak, with vibrant fruit flavours still prominent alongside developing complexity. Barossa Shiraz from quality vintages like 2022 typically shows immediate appeal while having the structure to cellar beautifully for 10-15 years.

The Baron of Barossa title is an honorary recognition given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the Barossa wine industry over many years. As a 6th generation vigneron, Rosenzweig represents decades of accumulated knowledge and dedication to Barossa's winemaking traditions. This generational expertise is evident in his ability to manage A-grade vineyards and craft wines that achieve critical acclaim, combining traditional techniques with modern precision.

Currently, this Shiraz showcases vibrant primary fruit flavours of fresh blackberries and plums, complemented by distinctive cherry ripe complexities that add sweetness and depth. The cedar and cocoa notes indicate oak integration and developing tertiary characters that will become more prominent with age. Over the next 5-10 years, expect the bright fruit to meld with earthy, spicy elements while the decadent tannins soften, creating a more harmonious and complex wine.
