Why do we love this wine?
This is what happens in the really good vintages. High yields of high quality fruit has meant that 2021 McLaren Vale wines, even in this price range, are absolutely stonking. The clue is in the name with this one - deeps sands allow for vine roots to extend down through layers of earth while enjoying relative ease in their environment. The result is complexity through varied soil types and depths, and fullness/richness as the grapes are allowed a long, healthy ripening period. This is beautifully blue fruited and full of pillowy tannins that excite the palate. A delightful drinking experience from go to whoa.
