Shiraz 2017 – Black Market Deal #42232
- Medium bodied
- Margaret River
There’s genuine excitement around the tasting bench at Mofo HQ whenever a vino from this winery splashes in our glass. We’ve had many-a-wine from this incredible 5 red star producer. This is yet another string to its bow. If you’re yet to dabble in shiraz out of Margaret River, this is a very very solid place to start.
The Fruit is sourced from a single vineyard where, once crushed, it spends up to 2 weeks on skins to add colour and personality. Once pressed, it matures in French oak (40% of which is brand new) to provide structure, ageability and a soft spice to compliment the quintessential black forest fruit. With five years already under its belt, this smooth, soft, luscious shiraz offers so much that we had to do a double take when we saw the price!
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
Full price $39.00 from the producer.
Mofo member price is always best price, 100% Happiness Guaranteed. If you find a better price to buy this wine elsewhere, contact our customer team now and we’ll beat it.
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.

Margaret River is as elusive as it is beautiful, such that you really need to visit to truly grasp its haunting beauty. Über-premium Cabernet, Chardonnay and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends grow here. 'Margies' only produces 3% of the country's grapes, but commands over 20% of its premium wine market, and hasn't had an off vintage since 2006. You start to realise how often this region is overlooked when you can list brands like Leeuwin, Cape Mentelle, Vasse Felix, and Voyager, not to mention Cullen, Pierro, Moss Wood, and Deep Woods. It's safe to say that it's time for a revisit.
