It’s a wonderful adventure to embark on; the exploration of Heathcote shiraz. Why, you may ask? It’s a very versatile region that showcases different topography, temperatures and soils. Couple this with a winemakers unique touch and the final result is always a topic of interest. This little surprise packet boasts wonderful complexity and depth of flavour. Aromatics of crushed black pepper, alluring violets, fruity tones of blueberry and plums and lashings of liquorice. Over the palate, a generous dose of jamminess and compote is balanced with precise acidity and secondary notes of soft spices and coffee beans. Full bodied with firm tannins, the chilly evenings will be all the more bearable with a glass of this in hand.
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.

There are two distinct styles of Heathcote wine, which can get confusing. There's Wild Duck Creek Duck Muck at the giant end of the spectrum for Greenock Creek lovers (I'm talking 17.5% alcohol!). And then there's Jasper Hill, Heathcote Estate, Chalmers' new Heathcote outfit and some new alternative varieties that seem to be making it into the best weird and wonderful natural wines in the country. Think Shiraz here traditionally, but don't be afraid to try the Nebbiolo, Fiano and Lagrein from painstakingly selected vineyards. They're refreshingly delicious.
The rules are there ain’t no rules, but here are some foods we think will work pretty well with this wine...
