Seppeltsfield Para Grand Tawny
- Rich, sweet
- South Australia
If you’ve ever been to the Seppeltsfield winery, you’ll know that to stand amongst the 2000 palm trees and 144 year old gravity cellar is to know history. And to know Barossa history is to know that this region would be nothing without its roots in fortified winemaking. The Para ‘Grand’ is synonymous with quality and decadence, a wine that is a benchmark for greatness. Seppeltsfield pride themselves on their ongoing cultivation of this age-old craft, keeping vintage barrels dating all the way back to the 1800’s. A blend of grenache, shiraz, and mataro with an average of 10 years ageing, this boasts an elegant richness with notes of praline, nougat, nuts and caramel. A drop of history, in every bottle.

Reviews
Tyson Stelzer
“Grenache, shiraz; mourvedre; small oak cask and solera maturation; average age 10 years. A fantastically affordable introduction to the grand old age and fabled mystique that surround Seppelt Para. Incredible depth of savoury allure is the signature of old age. Monumental persistence. A little spirity by contrast with its big brothers, yet, as always, a benchmark for its category.”

Adelaide as a wine region includes Barossa, Fleurieu and the Adelaide Hills. The wines that use this as their region tend to be very interesting, as they'll inevitably use some cooler, stylish fruit from the Hills, bolstered with richer fruit sourced from one of the other two regions. Grange is a multi-regional blend, after all.
