PRE-ARRIVAL: Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 – Black Market #39973
- Textured, savoury
This wine from a cult Coonawarra producer will be a special treat for the mofos who get their hands on one of the cases, of which there aren’t many available. It’s a cellar release that has 11 years of ageing, developing and improving under its belt. It’s a cuvèe that is usually exclusive to the producer’s database, but somehow our charming wine buyers have managed to get some for the site.
Each glass of this cabernet is sure to be excellent and intriguing. The once boisterous tannins have now mellowed on the silky palate, and fruit is joined by herbaceous and somewhat meaty notes. There’s still classic cabernet cassis and blackberry, which is accompanied by rosemary, thyme and a long and savoury finish. Be quick, mofo, cos a deal like this will not last long!
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down
We expect this wine to be ready to dispatch 28 January, 2022. Place your order as normal and we’ll dispatch it to you as soon as it arrives.
“Gorgeously matured and seductive expressed, showing dark berry, vanilla, charcuterie and spicy oak characters on the nose, followed by a concentrated palate displaying velvety texture and fine powdery tannins. Seamless and sumptuous with a soothing finish”
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.

Coonawarra is renowned for its cabernet. To write off other varieties, though, would be simplistic. Some of the best wine from the region is shiraz, which is frequently overlooked in the search for the perfect cab sav. It's riesling is a surprise dark horse, too. Not to belittle Coonawarra cab either, but it's funny how often we get caught insisting that one variety is the best expression of a specific place, grown in a variable environment with so many factors at play. All we're saying is: don't miss the great wines that aren't the usual suspects. Coonawarra has quite a few amazing hands other than their trump card.
