Pinot Noir 2017 – Black Market Deal #36524
- Elegant, lighter
Tassie consistently produces some of the lightest, most ethereal pinots in Australia. It’s a lovely style, though sometimes you want something with the same complexity, but that you can get your teeth into. That’s where this one comes in. It’s got all of that incredible cool-climate finesse and savoury elegance of the best of Tassie. But it’s also that wee bit plumper - more generous, more relaxed. It’s really, really easy to enjoy this wine. Forest berries and a gentle nudge of tannin make for a very luscious mouthfeel. Duck and pinot is a pairing cliché, but this makes the case with renewed enthusiasm. Don’t take my word for it. Ask the ducks.
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.

Some of the country's highest quality and best value wines unarguably come from this wee island, and the average bottle price is higher than any other region. It is probably the most sustainable part of the Aussie wine industry, given its relatively untapped potential and consistency of quality. There's no denying that the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, sparkling and aromatic whites are up there with the best.
