Paddy Borthwick Falloon Block Pinot Noir 2020
- Textured, savoury
We have drunk this wine over a few vintages and we’ve been kind of swept up by its consistent elegance, spiced red cherry attitude and subtle complexity. Everything in this wine has its place and the parts work together in beautiful harmony - gentle oak flavour wrapped up generously in red fruits, delicate poise and fine, chalky tannin. There’s enough acid to make this pinot sing with food and keep you coming back to your glass. Another lovely vintage Paddy!
Part of our Women in Wine Collection
We are committed to ALWAYS having wines available that are made by women. In an industry that’s still dominated by men, we believe in celebrating the incredible work women are doing. Here’s to our Women in Wine!
Vineyard Manager: Lisa Hodson
Lisa’s been at Borthwick since 2000, and has become, as they fondly call her, the “mother guardian” of the vineyard. She’s integral to the quality of their wines, and owner and winemaker Paddy’s right hand lady.
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.

Maori for 'glistening waters', Wairarapa is a small region around Wellington, at the very bottom of New Zealand's north island. It includes the subregions of Martinborough, Gladstone and Masterton. If the names Dry River, Martinborough Vineyards and Ata Rangi ring a bell, you probably need no further introduction. If they don't, it's time you were introduced to a diverse range of landscapes that produce a similarly varied range of scrumptious wines that Kiwis are rightly proud of.
