Olivares Tinto 2020
- Medium bodied
- Jumilla
Bodegas Olivares are a family-run winery in the sunny region of Jumilla in the south-east of Spain that we’re always proud to work with. We’ve always received some of our best value wines from them, vintage after vintage.
Profile
This is a rework of the popular GSM, with the local monastrell (or ‘mataro’ to Aussies) taking the lead role to make an MGS. The wine has sun-drenched summer fruit with a fresh, breezy acidity from the high altitude in which it’s grown. With sweet, swarthy berries and an exotically spiced finish, we can attest that it’s bloody hard to turn down a second (or third) glass.
Full price $22.00 from the producer.

Jumilla
Think Jumilla - think monastrell. That's right, mourvedre. Mataro, even. Yep, it's all one and the same. But it's Jumilla's staple, making up over 85% of the grapes grown in this small region, and the examples from here are juicy and delicious. Get amongst it and taste monastrell like you've never tasted before. By the end of a bottle, you'll be able to pronounce it properly... quite the opposite effect of most wine.
