Mr Turners Shiraz 2016
- Rich, full-bodied
Bendigo not a shy and retiring region, and neither is this wine. This shiraz is amped up on all the red and black fruits, and generously gifted with all the coconut-vanillin fancy oak flavour you could ask for. It’s a big and bold mouthful matched to sandy, textural tannins that help bring it home to a crescendo of bright acidity. There is never a dull moment with this wine.
At five years old, it is still a brash youngster, but a very enjoyable one to have around. Or tuck it away so it’s not seen or heard for a few more years and it’ll mellow out beautifully.

Bendigo is full of gold dust, and not just the mineral kind. The granite hills, warm days ensure that reds and robust whites ripen ideally here, and retain their delicate flavours in the cool, continental nights. Think Shiraz, Cabernet and Riesling and you're on the right track, with a bit more oomph than its slightly cooler neighbours, Avoca and Seymour.
