Maison Du Grand Pré Côte de Nuits-Villages 2017
- Medium bodied
Côte de Nuits is the region where pinot noir finds its home in Burgundy, with terroir capable of truly wonderful wines. A step up from the Bourgogne level wine, this Côte de Nuits-Villages from winemaker Mathieu Paquet is a blend of eight different plots. Grapes are handpicked, then fully destemmed, fermented and aged in barrique - 30% new.
The nose is youthful, with blackcurrant, raspberries and sweet spices. There’s a hint of fresh green herbs on the palate, but the juicy fruit is really the star - red currants, raspberry and ripe strawberries. The wine is light on its feet, with fine tannin and a smooth finish, a great intro to an epic region.
