Maison Chanzy Santenay 1er Beaurepaire 2019
- Pinot Noir
Located in an old house that belonged to Vincent Leflaive, the Maison Chanzy in Puligny-Montrachet is a modern producer, crafting pristine wines across some of the best plots in Burgundy. Santenay, located in the Côte de Beaune, is revered for its pinot vines with the vineyard of Beaurepaire being a Premier Cru example of the goodness available. This is one beautifully balanced wine -just as the richness builds, in comes an elegant line of acid that drives the lengthy finish. This is true Burgundy Rouge, with all those hits of deep savoury earth and a touch of mushroom, while packing the fruit drive of cherry and blackberry. It plays the fine line between being fresh and deep, but hits the marks for elegance at all points.
“That’s a great nose – wide, mineral, energetic – a great invitation. Impact, lots of minerality some tannin, mouth-watering – broad flavoured but never heavy. Never a shy wine, but really well put together and the finish is beautifully fine and long – bravo!”
