Losada Mencía 2019
- Textured, savoury
- Bierzo
Bierzo is located in the cool northwest of Spain, where the Atlantic influence makes for wines of surprising elegance and poise. Losada have been crafting magnificent wines in this region for a couple of decades and have been recognised by wine media and consistently awarded for their work.
Profile
To give you an idea of what to expect from this wine, mencía can make wines that resemble anything from Cru Beaujolais to Northern Rhône syrah. Their calling card is magnificent aromas of violets, raspberries and black tea. This wine has a firm medium body, intense core of red and dark berries and a warm lick of quality French oak to finish - incense, plums and herbaceous crunch. The high acidity will allow this to cellar beautifully.
Reviews
James Suckling
“Sweet berries with some fresh flowers on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with firm, silky tannins and a delicious finish. Lightly citrusy in the aftertaste.”
