Lornano Le Bandite Chianti Classico Riserva 2015
- Rich, full-bodied
- Tuscany
We’ve been importing a couple of wines from Tuscan producer Lornano for a few years now. When we saw how well Le Bandite fared in the Decanter World Wine Awards, we realised it was time for us to expand the range. This is Chianti Classico Riserva of the highest order. 100% sangiovese sourced from a vineyard at 330 metres over shale and alluvial soil. After fermentation, it sees about 20 months in French oak, which adds a cedary backdrop to the wine. This is more of a complement to the fruit rather than an overt presence thankfully, as the wine is wonderfully in balance. You’ll find black cherry, plum, licorice, earthen notes and even hints of balsam in the wine. The tannins are velvety and lead into a long mineral-laden finish. Keep the hits coming, Lornano.

Decanter Magazine
“Ample and pure, with an elegant nose of black cherries and plum jam laced with vanilla. The palate is laden with high quality, fine-grained tannins around deep flavours of dark chocolate, black cherry, damson and clove.”
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.

Ah...Tuscany. The home of rolling hills, extra virgin olive oil, Steak Florentine and, of course, Chianti. Everything here is about the earth, and it shows through in the produce. Earthy, vinous, purely rustic and unadulterated. Some of our most enjoyable experiences have come from here. They don't generally come cheap, but they're well worth it.
