Price Drop: Herència Altés Garnatxa Negra 2021
- Medium bodied
- Terra Alta
Ah, Spanish grenache. If I could, I would drink it every single day. In fact, I now drink this wine more often than most reds in my personal rotation. You know a wine is good if you never get sick of it. I visited Herència Altés on a hot & sunny day in July that will always be with me: you can’t fake passion, and this team have it in barrel loads (of wine). Committed to the land, to the vineyards, to organic and biodynamic practices and most importantly: to the product that ends up in every wine drinker’s hands.
Profile
Grenache is one of those chameleons, and this one from Spain’s north east corner is more about succulent red fruits, bubblegum, violets and fresh figs (like, straight from the orchard fresh). Around 90% of wines in Europe are drunk with food, and this wine’s versatility will help you see why.
Reviews
Tully Mauritzen
“A visit to the vineyards and winery of Herència Altés is a unique opportunity, and one that I am viscerally reminded of with each sip of wines like this grenache. The combination of high altitude vineyards (after all, ‘Terra Alta’ literally means ‘high lands’) organic vineyard management and that gentle influence from the sea all make this wine, at its core, one that is so linked to the land it comes from. It's romantic and responsible, a guaranteed pleasure”
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.
