El Enemigo Syrah Viognier 2017
- Rich, full-bodied
El Enemigo is easily one of the most exciting producers from Mendoza. They are best known for cabernet franc, but they do some amazing things with malbec (of course), chardonnay and syrah amongst others. This syrah has a touch of viognier, much like how they do it in the Northern Rhône. The wine has structure and power with aromas of black fruits, tobacco and spice. On the palate it’s quite concentrated but not overbearing at all.
“Such a deep purple color here. This has around 12% viognier and delivers a super complex nose with such alluringly fragrant spices and crushed blackberries, as well as stones and light, peppery notes. The palate is bathed in rich, ripe dark-berry flavor with a spicy thread and long, fine-cut, silky tannins, holding super rich and pure. Very intense flavors on the finish – a real crescendo! Red and dark berries with cocoa powder to close. Drink or hold.”
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.
