Domaine Lemoule Coulanges-La-Vineuse Pinot Noir 2019
- Medium bodied
Are you ready for an onslaught of French words? Kinda goes with the territory when discussing Burgundy. This pinot noir, produced by Domaine Lemoule, comes from an area called Coulanges-la-Vineuse, which is a sub-region of Auxerrois (or Yonne), which is located adjacent to Chablis in northern Burgundy.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk about the wine. It’s hand-harvested off a southeast facing slope of limestone, clay and marl. The grapes are partially destemmed and gently pressed for fermentation. Steel tanks are used for ageing to preserve the fruit and minimal filtration takes place before bottling. Essentially, Domaine Lemoule is chasing purity of fruit. Expect cherry, plum and strawberry, a reasonably full mouthfeel, and light tannin. Magnifique!
Full price $55.00 from the producer.
