Domaine de la Bressande Mercurey 1er Cru 2019
- Medium bodied
- Burgundy
Maison Antonin Rodet has been growing grapes since 1875 in the Côte Chalonnaise with vineyard holdings in Maranges, Santenay, Rully and Mercurey, the last being the home village of the producer. Mercurey has 31 Premier Cru climats, with Rodet’s holdings in Sazenay amounting to only 1.75 hectares. From this tiny sloped vineyard comes a pinot noir full of vibrancy and tension. After nine months in 25% new French oak, there’s a nose of blackcurrant, clove and smoked meats. The palate shows cherry, blueberry, an array of herbs and just a hint of toasty oak. It’s smooth, balanced and lengthy on the finish, certainly a wine to savour.

Reviews
International Wine Challenge
“Vibrant, exuberant, youthful aromas - blueberry, cherry, herbal, clove, sappy, smoky bacon. Beautifully integrated oak. Sheer intensity and weight on palate balanced by a fresh almost tangy acidity.”
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.
