Why do we love this wine?

Alrighty mofos, we’re down in the Côtes du Rhône for this silky number. Is this the best Côtes du Rhône we’ve tasted at HQ? Maybe, it’s definitely up there. It’s the flagship release from Domaine De L’Echevin, a syrah-dominated blend with a touch a grenache.

Medium to full-bodied, you’re looking at an earthy wine with herbals notes and flavours of blueberries, blackberries and pepper. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate gave this wine 94 points, saying “it shows the fresh, elegant side to the vintage,”  and is “beautifully concentrated and textured. with good acidity.”

It has years left in it and at 25 bucks a pop, this is a good opportunity to release the Francophile within and try something with a bit of European grace. Robert Parker himself said “these releases from winemaker Adrien Fabre are beautiful, age-worthy wines well worth the effort to track down.” Now that’s a call-to-arms.
