Cimicky Piping Shrike Cabernet Shiraz 2019
- Textured, savoury
- South Australia
Cimicky has been at it in the Barossa for 179 years. That’s not a typo. Since German settlers moved onto the property in 1842, it has only been in the hands of two families. Their Piping Shrike cab shiraz is as classically Aussie as the winery’s long history. It sits just below full-bodied with notes of blackberry, spice and plum. Behind that is sweet vanillin from the oak regime, providing soft tannins and excellent length.

Ned Goodwin
“Perhaps the brightest and freshest of the suite. The archetypal Australian blend. Accents of red and black currant, bell pepper, iodine, blueberry, pepper grind and anise. Fresh and perky, with some lively acidity adding spark to an effortless push across the finish. A gentle tannic twine guides the wine to good length as the mid-palate expands further with a final spurt of fruit. Very solid drinking”
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.

Adelaide as a wine region includes Barossa, Fleurieu and the Adelaide Hills. The wines that use this as their region tend to be very interesting, as they'll inevitably use some cooler, stylish fruit from the Hills, bolstered with richer fruit sourced from one of the other two regions. Grange is a multi-regional blend, after all.
