Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 – Black Market Deal #37311
- Textured, savoury
- Bendigo
Bendigo has a long, illustrious history with cabernet. The region gets a bit more attention for its shiraz these days, but that’s simply a matter of the wine market demand. Cab sav is the original, and in my opinion, best red from the area. This one has aged beautifully for eight years, allowing it to soften into a medium-bodied and graceful wine. The oak has slipped into the background, leaving some juicy cassis and herbal characteristics to carry the load.

What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.

Region
Bendigo
Bendigo is full of gold dust, and not just the mineral kind. The granite hills, warm days ensure that reds and robust whites ripen ideally here, and retain their delicate flavours in the cool, continental nights. Think Shiraz, Cabernet and Riesling and you're on the right track, with a bit more oomph than its slightly cooler neighbours, Avoca and Seymour.
