This is our second vintage of Barolo from the great boutique producer and comes from the stellar 2016 vintage - oh yeah!! It is a joy to be working with them and this wine, an example of perfectly made and aged nebbiolo from the esteemed region.
Profile
This six-year-old wine comes from 30-40 year-old vine in the sub regions of Coste di Rose and Monrobiolo di Bussia. The vineyards are managed with minimal inputs and the winemaking is quite modern. Expect all of the hallmarks of quality nebbiolo - the classic tar-and-roses nose with layers of dry herbs. Structurally it is Barolo through and through, with a tannin structure that will carry the wine for years and driving acid interlaced with fruit and savoury notes.

These are the wines dreams are made of, from the foggy little tough-skinned nebbiolo grape and the beautiful region of truffles and rolling hillsides. In these dreams lives the hauntingly long flavours and "peacock tail"-like tannins that bring a kaleidoscope of ever-evolving experience to the taste buds, and conversation to the table. To me, where Burgundy falls short so often, Barolo is rarely not worth the money. In fact, once you experience a good vintage with the right amount of age, it's hard not to justify the coin.
