Why do we love this wine?

Big, bold Barossa is generally not my jam. I’m a silky smooth Tassie pinot lover. But Barossa cab seems to be able to float my boat from time to time. The first one was an eye-opener...

Everyone knows Rockford’s Basket Press Shiraz, but the Rifle Range Cabernet seems to be a little bit of a hidden gem in their stable, like it’s the wine that Barossans drink while the tourists glut themselves on shiraz at twice the price.

This is not that wine. But with ten years of age, and a silkier complexion than a newborn, it kind of reminds me of that inaugural moment of insight: Barossa does more than shiraz, and it does it bloody well.

Big, it is, but smooth and quite delicious. Leather and earth and lots of fruit with some dried herbs sprinkled around. Big bottle too. Your father in law would be impressed.

Just an idea...

We can’t reveal the brand of this wine on our site. It’s a promise we made to the producer and that’s how we secured the deal. You still get the real McCoy – no cleanskins, no knockoffs, just top shelf vino at up to 70% off. Trust us, you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
