Adega Mãe Pinta Negra Tinto 2020
- Medium bodied
Adega Mãe are based north of the Portuguese capital of Lisbon and produce wines that punch well above their price point, with classic ripe fruit that you’d expect from Portuguese red blends and the influence of the nearby Atlantic, bringing freshness and minerality.
The producer describes this wine as “easy and straightforward” and we do not disagree- there is fruit compote and a touch of cinnamon on the nose, a medium-bodied palate that has so much fruit, it’s just delicious. A little lick of vanilla is there but the stars are the red fruits and berries, complimented by a bit of spice and mellow tannin. It’s not dissimilar to grenache-based wines - a side step from Spain and plusher than what you’d find in the Rhône.
It’s cool, we get it, you want to know absolutely everything about this wine. Well here you go, go nuts.
