World Whites
- Mixed
- Various
These are some of the most exciting white wines known to humanity, from across the globe. If that doesn’t get you pumped up, mofo, we don’t know what will. From South Africa, France, Spain, New Zealand and Italy, we’ve got a world of wonder for you to enjoy, right here.
The bottles pictured here do not necessarily reflect the bottle shapes or closures that will be included in this pack. The Vinomofo team is working from home, to help fight against COVID-19 and keep staff safe, so all that cool stuff we use to make things look pretty is back at the office. We reckon that, so long as the wine is good (and it is!) it doesn’t matter too much under the circumstances. Hope you agree!
Every case contains TWO of each of the following:

In Marlborough, chardonnay is sometimes overshadowed by its louder sibling sauv blanc. Honestly, that’s a crying shame. Marlborough chardy, especially from a top producer such as Framingham, has depth, complexity, length and drive. This one is a bit creamy, with nectarine and lemon custard on the nose prefacing a palate of white peach, oatmeal and vanilla riding a wave of enticing minerality. Sometimes it’s the quiet ones you gotta watch out for.

We love Rhône Valley whites. Maybe it’s their relative rarity that makes them taste that little bit more special. Maybe it’s the richer style and heady orange-blossom aromatics that makes them seem like a bit of a treat. Either way, this is wonderful. A sub-label of one of the Châteauneuf titans, this is tip-top quality, and damn tasty.

Alsatian riz is in a world of its own, flavour wise. Alsace is the driest part of France, with long, lazy summers that allow grapes to ripen in their own good time. Where the German rieslings, just across the border, are delicate and ethereal, the Alsatians are richly fruited and fuller-bodied. This one’s peachy, with hints of wet slate and a lanolin-like air about it. The acidity is all sunny citrus, while the overall impression is stone dry. These wines will age for aeons, so drink whenever you feel the time is right over the next 20 years.

This wonderful sauvignon blanc from Strandveld Vineyards in Cape Agulhas, South Africa has been a mofo favourite and we are delighted to welcome back a new vintage. Previous vintages have been awarded big points and this is no exception with 98 points by the SAWi, the local authority on South African wine. It’s unbelievable value for a very smart wine. This vintage has a splash of semillon which adds freshness and ageability. The dominant sauvignon blanc has all of the tropical and zesty notes that any sauv drinker would like, plus an ocean-side freshness. The vineyards lie only 9km from the sea and maybe I’ve been lured by their marketing, but I swear there’s a bit of sea-spray on the grapes. Either way, it is a holiday in a glass and I know that’s what I need right now.

If you’ve been thinking about dipping your toe into the world of Spanish whites, this could be the wine for you. From one of our favourites, Celler Masroig in Montsant, this is a super-lively white made from 60/40% macabeo and grenache blanc. Both local varieties thrive in the dry heat and high altitude of the region. We reckon this wine is a bit of a crossover hit for drinkers of aromatic whites that like a palate with texture, one that is not too fruity, but rather zesty and herbaceous. You’ll be surprised at just how quickly a dozen bottles of this will disappear!

This is an absolute mofo favourite and is as good an expression of Soave Classico as any. It does just what you want it to, and it’s only $9.90. We reckon you’ll struggle to find something of similar quality in a bottle shop for less than eighteen, and that’s on a good day. Plus, this wine is super versatile. Chill it right down and it’ll do the pinot grigio thing - fresh, crisp and easy drinking. Let it warm up and you’ll get all the peachy richness side of its spectrum, handling richer seafood and even chicken with aplomb. This is one of those wines you’ll find yourself reaching for, time and time again. Head of Buying at the ‘fo, John, reckons it’s up there with the best value buys of his ‘fo career. I’m not one to argue!
