An almost unique style of chardy - this is absolutely one to try. There’s no shortage of classic flavours. You’ll get all the fresh citrus, green and yellow apples and white peach you could wish for. But this also sees flor ageing in barrel, not unlike sherry. And that’s where the magic happens. The fruit is enhanced with complex yeasty notes, vanillin-sweet oak and nutty-savoury undertones. It’s richly flavoured, but perfectly balanced at the same time. Wonderfully made wine!

This is a full and textural wine, with generous fruit and fresh acidity. The grapes are picked at the perfect time then go through fermentation and ageing in barrel, 15% new. The result of this winemaking is a lovely, textural wine with only the most subtle oaky notes. There is citrussy acid driving the wine, stone fruit, floral notes and a faint orange oil note.

We love Yarra chardonnay and this wine from Carlei shows off the best of the region. It was handpicked from two top-quality sites and crafted with maximum care. The wine is perfectly balanced - it saw only 10% new oak and partial malolactic fermentation - so there are bright notes and a few richer highlights too. A touch of lees stirring has resulted in a beautifully textured wine, full of nectarine, grapefruit and almond meal.

This chardy is fleshy and full, but showcases tasteful restraint in the winemaking. Zippy acidity steers the palate to considerable freshness and highlights the beautiful fruit purity on display. The finish is soft and softly creamy, leaving you immediately keen for another sip.

Yes, we know. Most people don’t associate chardonnay with Italy. Perhaps it’s time to expand your horizons. And if you are going to get on the Italian chardy bandwagon, then what better way than with a 98 pointer? This isn’t a reinvention of the wheel here, just a well-made, familiar-in-style, and imminently delicious wine. It sees 40% new oak with periodic battonage (that’s the stirring of the lees in barrel to build texture and complexity). You’ll fine pineapple and tropical fruit, along with hints of chamomile and vanilla, all carried by balanced acidity in an elegant and fresh wine. It’s stylish and Italian, two things that are often associated with each other.

I'll hand the microphone over to wine critic Raymond Chan to describe this one: "Bright, even, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, paler edged. The nose is fresh and firm with solid and robust aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits and citrus fruit entwined with creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak unfolding a little toast. The aromatics form a positive core with depth. Medium-full bodied, the palate has bold and up-front flavours of sweetly ripe tropical fruit and stonefruits, with savoury citrus fruit forming a fulsome heart. The flavours are mouthfilling and near robust, with balancing creamy and nutty oak and fresh, lacy acidity. The wine has good drive and carries to a long finish. This is a fulsome and robust Chardonnay with stonefruit, citrus fruit and tropical fruit , creamy and nutty oak on a palate with power and freshness."
