- Margaret River
If you like cab merlots from Margaret River, this blend from Eddie McDougall is sure to tick all of your wine boxes. Don’t be afraid of the merlot-dominance of the blend - the luscious fruit from the merlot balances the structure of the cabernet sauvignon, the wild herbaceous of the cabernet franc and the power of the malbec. It’s dark and serious on the nose, with classic cabernet cassis, heaps of red and black berries on the palate and medium tannin. There’s a savoury finish to this very well-made wine.

- Beechworth
This is one I’m quite excited about. For the sake of transparency, I am a huge fan of the style of shiraz that comes out of Beechworth, all savoury with bright fruit, earthiness, herbal notes and fine tannins. It’s a little glimpse of the Northern Rhône at home in Australia. The shiraz we have here is all that and then some. It comes from Warner Vineyard, a site that provides fruit to some of the region’s most renowned producers including Giaconda. There’s a partial whole bunch fermentation, providing some extra herbaceousness, and the wine spent 14 months on full lees in a mix of old and new oak. The wine was then bottled unfined and unfiltered, maintaining maximum flavour and texture whilst also keeping the wine vegan-friendly.

- Rhône Valley
From the top young winemaking team of Baptiste Olivier and Gérald Lafont comes another vintage of their delicious Côtes-du-Rhône. This team work for some of the most exciting estates in the Rhône Valley and in their spare time create a few wonderful wines for themselves. It’s a pure and clean expression of the region with bright and lively grenache dominating (75%), with syrah (15%) and mourvèdre filling out the palate. Interestingly, this leans further into the blueberry fruit spectrum rather than the usual red fruits, with plenty of spice and earth coming through.

- Yarra Valley
This is the estate chardonnay from Yarra powerhouse TarraWarra, complete with a few years of age on it to start developing those nutty cashew characteristics. There’s still heaps of lemony citrus and stone fruits like you’d expect from top notch Yarra chardy of course. It’s that extra bit that make it all the more interesting, though. The wine was harvested off 15-30 year old vines from high vineyard slopes, fermented naturally in tank and barrel, and given 10 months to rest on lees. It’s not age before beauty, it’s age along with beauty.

This delicious wine from the region of Catalunya in Spain has captured the imagination of our customers, selling quickly and receiving heaps of praise. It’s not often that we get to drink straight grenache blanc (garnatxa blanca in Catalan), but it’s a joy when we do. These wines are always on the richer end of the spectrum, with a touch of skin contact and time on lees contributing to a wonderfully textural palate. A wine that any chardonnay drinker is sure to appreciate, with stone fruit aplenty and a fresh, pithy finish.

We love Eden producer Brothers At War and it seems that James Halliday does too - giving them 99 points on their 2018 singe vineyard grenache! Though this riesling is yet to be rated, but we are sure James will love it as much as we do, for its vibrant fruit, mineral purity and brilliant length. There's classic bright citrus, floral notes and driving acid. Well made by a producer to keep your eye on.
