Life in monochrome, mofo. The blackest of Black Markets. The whitest of white wines. This high-contrast box of fun offers incredible value and unbeatable deliciousness in equal measure. If you like your wine light on the pigment, but heavy on the savings, look no further. Should you buy this case? It’s black and white, mofo.
Each case contains TWO of the following wines:
Adelaide Hills. SA
Handpicked | Single Vineyard
This is a stunning chardonnay from one of the most exciting producers in Australia. They are currently excelling at grenache, shiraz and chardonnay from South Australia’s top vineyards, in this case from a single site in Lenswood. This wine has all the citrus, mineral, and melon that you could want in a chardonnay. There is also the right amount of soft french oak, balanced by the freshness from high altitude vineyards that produces great intensity and driving acidity.

Pinot Grigio 2019
Hilltops is a little under-the-radar spot for excellent pinot g. Put that fruit in the talented hands of a producer such as this one, and the result is bright, crisp, bursting with fruit and carried along with gentle texture. We’re not reinventing the wheel here, just checking the alignment and sending you on your way for a fresh, smooth ride. Buckle up and enjoy!
YOU’D PAY $27 full price.
Clare Valley, SA
This wine was made by one of our Clare favourites as a house wine for a restaurant, who in light of recent times are now offering only takeaway. It’s a cracking riesling, with citrus blossom and mineral notes exploding on the nose and pallet. Super-dry riesling with great drive and length, really expressing the very best of the Clare, and we think with the potential to do so over the next 3-6 years. In light of the story, pick up a dozen, support your local takeaway and the only dishes you’ll be doing are the glasses.
YOU’D PAY $25 full price.
Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2018
Margaret River, WA
Few wines are quite so shamelessly smashable as a sem-sav blanc blend. And this one seems to be hell-bent on topping the pile. Semillon brings drive and freshness, with citrus and delicate herbs. The savvy brings passionfruit, nashi pear and mouthwateringly juicy lime flavours. The result is a combo that’ll keep you enchanted from first sniff to last sip.
YOU’D PAY $23 full price.
White Blend 2018
If you like a Rhône valley white, or perhaps southern Italian, this’ll be right up your alley. Don’t dismiss the ‘field blend’ name. It’s a mosaic rather than a hodgepodge: I found all the components to show cracking balance, and really well-judged. It’s mouthfilling and plushly fruited, with a real yummy orange jelly vibe, peaches and cream, orange blossom and grapefruit. The riesling is an excellent addition, that gives it freshness but doesn’t overpower the riper, warmer fruits with too much citrus. Loads of pithy texture here, too. It’s Hentley Farm, so what did you expect, really?
YOU’D PAY $22 full price.
Sauvignon Blanc 2019
Central Valley, Chile
There’s more to sauvignon blanc than well-known regions like Marlborough, Adelaide Hills and Loire. Chile’s Valle Central delivers plenty of bang for your buck, with pungent gooseberry on the nose with just a gentle touch of leafiness. It’s certainly not your shy retiring type. There’s plenty on show. The palate holds your attention with gooseberry going all the way down the spine with juicy lime-like acidity. Fresh and flavourful - this is one very drinkable mofo for the SB lovers.
YOU’D PAY $18 full price.
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
