Why do we love this case?

Life in monochrome, mofo. The blackest of Black Markets. The whitest of white wines. This high-contrast box of fun offers incredible value and unbeatable deliciousness in equal measure. If you like your wine light on the pigment, but heavy on the savings, look no further. Should you buy this case? It’s black and white, mofo.

Each case contains TWO of the following wines:

Chardonnay 2017

Adelaide Hills, SA

Single Vineyard

This chardonnay is a side project for a producer who works across a few regions and here showcases a region and variety that go hand-in-hand: Adelaide Hills and chardonnay. This is an impressive example of Hills chardy - it’s friendly and laid back, but still exciting and full of life. Abound with citrus and pear fruits on the nose and a fine, textured palate - it’s an easygoing wine that’s perfect for any occasion and so many cuisines.

Pinot Gris 2020

Eden Valley, SA

94pts Sam Kim | Vegan Friendly

If you spend a bare minimum on cologne or perfume, you may find a pearl – but you’re likely to end up with something really stanky. The same’s not true for wine at the ‘fo, and this gris is a perfect case in point. This is beautifully perfumed, gorgeously lifted and wonderfully fruity. A cool, elegant acidity drives the experience with poise and grace. The finish is long and lingering. It’s miraculous winemaking for your money, and we’re totally in love.

YOU’D PAY $30 full price.

Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Adelaide Hills, SA

96pts Winestate Magazine | 95pts Royal Adelaide Show | Gold Medal Royal Adelaide Show | 5 Star Halliday Rated Winery

This sauvignon blanc has so much bling, it looks like it’s robbed a jewellery store! This little gem from the Adelaide Hills is simply a wonderful sauv, abounding with character. Floral notes support vibrant fruits on the nose and the palate has the tropical trilogy of passionfruit, pineapple AND guava! It’s bright and bouncy with great texture and even a few nutty nuances. Get amongst it now people, cos it’s here for a good time, not a long time.

YOU’D PAY $25 full price.

Fiano 2020

King Valley, VIC

These Italian grapes do seem to do bloody well on Aussie soil, and more and more producers are catching on. These guys have a head start though, and have got the formula down pat. Mediterranean freshness, with wonderfully sunny citrus - think lime, orange blossom, lemon and fragrant honeysuckle. There’s hints of ripe nectarine, too, and a sprinkle of sweet spice kicking in on the close. Delightful stuff, really.

Pinot Blanc 2019

Central Otago, NZ

91pts Sam Kim | 4.5 Sam Kim | Certified Organic

Pinot blanc is a delicious white cousin to pinot noir, and the grapes for this wine were hand harvested, so only the creme of the crop made the final press. After being partially barrel fermented, the wine displays a rounded mouthfeel and nuttiness, whilst also retaining purity and freshness of zesty lemon peel and fragrant jasmine. Sit back and relax as you slurp this down in the afternoon sun.

YOU’D PAY $25 full price.

Riesling 2020

Clare Valley, SA

This is the perfect weeknight rizza and it gets more serious as you move up the range. It’s floral and sherberty on the nose with a few funky notes too. It follows with a dry and textural palate that is pithy and citric - vibrant and classic. It has a super-dry finish and my notes say “it’s pretty bloody long”.

YOU’D PAY $20 full price.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
