Maybe it’s just me, mofos, but I feel like white Burgundy hasn’t been getting the same frenzied adulation as its red counterpart in recent years. This is just crazy and we are here to shine the spotlight back on the blancs! This pack is a mixed six of the best Burgundies we could find from the thin strip of wine-growing heaven in eastern France. If you’ve not been giving Burgundy all the love it deserves lately, this’ll remind you exactly why these chardies are still king.
Every case contains ONE bottle of each of the following:

Let us break this down for you. La Côte Rôtie is a vineyard situated in the appellation of Saint-Véran in the heart of Mâcon, Southern Burgundy. Not to be confused with the ‘other’ Côte Rôtie which is further south and better known for its reds. The vineyards advantage is that it is southerly facing, protecting it from the fierce northerly winds and an aspect which sees a huge amount of sun fit for ripening. This brings about a richer body to the wine with hallmarks for fleshy honeydew and ripe stone fruit. The vineyards soils are comprised of limestone which compliments the fruit with slatey, minerally undertones and crisp finish. Deux Roches is a favourite at the Fo’ and we’re wrapt to start exploring the 2018 vintage.

This ticks all the boxes for a cracking, approachable Chablis. The classic pairing for this wine is with oysters. We like to avoid the banal here at the ‘fo, but my word do you end up craving them after a glass of this. Be prepared and get a couple dozen in. The palate is clean, crisp and almost spiritual in purity. Green apple, aloe, cucumber and oyster shell, with notes of saline minerality that sing of terroir. If you’re pouring this, we’ll be happy to do all the shucking.

Saint-Véran lies on a south-facing ridge of limestone, providing some of the best sunlight and warmth in Burgundy. Once fermented, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation on lees in barrel, making for a rich and full style of chardonnay. ‘Tradition’ is a pale gold wine with rich floral aromas complemented by hints of pear, green apple, peach and apricot, all well-integrated on the palate and reinforced by creamy oak notes, and a medium to long floral finish. For fans of big bold chardy, this is a perfect match.

Located in an old house that belonged to Vincent Leflaive, the Maison Chanzy in Puligny-Montrachet is a modern producer, crafting pristine wines across some of the best plots on Burgundy. This Bourgogne level wine is a wonderful introduction to their word of chardonnay - flinty and mineral, with stone fruit. floral and layer of details. An absolute stunner for the price. Here’s what winemaker Max Blondelle had to say about the wine: “There’s a little saline minerality to this nose. Just a hint of textural richness but the wine is open and quite mineral – a very nice depth of fruit which is emphasised and deliciously lasting in the finish. Excellent wine, practically great Bourgogne”

For fans of medium-bodied, but intensely-flavoured chardonnay, this Bourgogne Blanc suits perfectly. The fruit is sourced from a northwesterly facing slope, harvested late in the season and allowed to go through malolactic fermentation before aging in vats ahead of bottling. The wine is a medium gold in colour with an aroma of green apples and citrus, supported by floral notes, all of which are balanced on the palate with a driving mineral finish.

Located in an old house that belonged to Vincent Leflaive, the Maison Chanzy in Puligny-Montrachet is a modern producer, crafting pristine wines across some of the best plots in Burgundy. Les Trois is a reference to the three vineyards that provide fruit for this wine - Les Clous, La Tournelle and Les Cordères. Like most of the white wines that come out of Bouzeron, this one is 100% aligoté. Only stainless steel is used to highlight the fruit expression of the variety, one that is floral, citrusy, minerally and full of melon. It’s lively, a touch creamy and great both as a young and aged wine.
