It’s hard to overstate how great the chardonnay wines are from their home turf in the Burgundy region of France. We’ve got three right here that are sure to impress. There’s a Grand Cru Chablis from Tremblay Marchive and two awesome wines from Ropiteau Freres. Drive, finesse, purity and class - these wine have all that, and more.

Each case includes one of the following:

IWC 2021
IWC 2021

This 1er Cru is all about intensity. It’s sourced from a vineyard on the upper slope with south-eastern exposure, enjoying excellent drainage and abundant sun. After hand-harvesting and hand-sorting, the team at Ropiteau gently presses the grapes, sending the juice to 20% new French oak for 10 month on lees. There’s incredible concentration here, with vibrant minerality, citrus and white blossoms on the nose and a rich driving palate that leads to a lengthy acid-driven finish. For those who haven’t experience the true power of fine white Burgundy, this is the wine that’ll show you the light.

Cult Producer

Tremblay Marchive is a side-project from the epic producer Domaine des Malandes, makers of super-premium Chablis including Premier and Grand Cru. They are a producer of the highest calibre, making some of the most refined wines in the region, rightfully earning a bit of a cult following. This is their chardonnay from Les Clos, the largest of Chablis’ Grand Cru. The vineyard stretches across a hillside with southwest exposure, receiving full-day sun and enjoying excellent drainage due to the steep slope. The soil is more limestone towards the top, moving into clay at the bottom. Typical of the climate’s wines, this Grand Cru shows hazelnut, struck match, smoke and intense lemon all wrapped in a extremely concentrated package with chalky tannins. This is the essence of Chablis, a wine with vibrancy, drive and complexity.

Ropiteau Freres' highly acclaimed Meursault is sourced from vines planted over clay and limestone, both in the flatlands and the upper slopes. Everything was hand-picked and hand-sorted, undertaking a gentle pressing and fermentation before resting in 20% new French oak. Floral aromas abound on the nose before giving way to a palate of lemon curd, red apple, peach, minerality and a surprising and cleansing salinity. Absolutely delicious and immensely complex.
