Whisky and Wine 2.0 - Longbow Shiraz
- Mixed
- Various
Whisky and wine are a bit of a pigeon pair. They just work so well together. Red wine with dinner, then a whisky to finish off the evening. You know we love our Aussie reds here at the ‘Fo, so it makes perfect sense for us to dip our toes into the ‘spirit’ world with an Aussie whisky that’s been aged in shiraz barrels.
Enter Starward, a distillery amongst Australia’s upper echelon, and one that just happens to be around the corner from the Vinomofo office. It’s a tough job we do but no need to thank us.
Without further ado, allow us to present our second Whisky and Wine pack! We’ve taken five bottles of the acclaimed Longbow shiraz by Archery Road, and that last little spot in the case? Well that belongs to Nova, Starward’s famous single malt whisky that’s matured in shiraz barrels.
We’re still Vinomofo through and through, but doesn’t Whiskymofo have a nice ring to it?
Each case contains the following:
Starward Nova Single Malt Australian Whisky x 1 bottle
&
Archery Road Longbow Shiraz 2018 x 5 bottles

Let us introduce you to Nova, Starward’s famous single malt whisky that’s been awarded Gold and Double Gold at some of the world’s most distinguished spirits competitions. It’s smooth, vibrant and bottled at a very approachable 41% ABV. The palate hints at red berries and orchard fruits with alluring notes of vanillin, caramel and spice from the ageing process. Drink it neat, drop an ice cube or two into it, or concoct your favourite cocktail with it. Every option is a winner.

Longbow from Archery Road is sourced from the prized southern part of the sun-drenched Barossa, steeped in quality grown shiraz (you know we’ve done the research). It’s right here, where the surrounding views offer the picture-perfect painting; a diversity of colours from the tree leaves to the soils, which in turn give our favourite grape - shiraz - all the lashings of character we as adults have grown to become obsessed with. A blend of hand-selected low-yielding parcels, you’ll find generous flavours of black fruit, olive and pepper spice, backed by silky tannins, yet the wine is intense on the palate, with a great depth and length. Such a complex finish, and a damn fine gem of a shiraz.
