The Upgrade Case - Maison Chanzy Clos Voyens Mercurey 1er Cru 2018
- Textured, savoury
We all know the expression about dangling a carrot in front of someone. But what if this entire case of wine is ‘carrots’ so to speak? We’re talking about a case of Burgundy, it’s already looking pretty sweet. All you can really do is dangle an even bigger carrot we suppose. So that’s what we did.
You’ll get 5 bottles of Maison Chanzy’s Bourgogne Rouge, which in itself is a value winner worth having on hand. But why stop there? We’ve added the ultimate carrot, a bottle of their Premier Cru from the Clos Voyens vineyard in Mercurey, Côte Chalonnaise. Because you’re worth it. All carrots, no sticks...that’s how we roll.
What’s in the Case?
Each case contains the following:
1 bottle of Maison Chanzy Clos Voyens Mercurey 1er Cru 2018
94pts IWC 2020 | 93pts Wine Enthusiast |4.1 Vivino (All Vintages)| Single Vineyard
This Premier Cru Mercurey from Clos Voyens is an absolute stunner with years and years ahead of it. The warmer 2018 vintage has resulted in a wine full of dense fruit - from strawberries and cranberries to blood plums and blueberries. There is also a whisper of coffee grinds and pink peppercorns too. The palate is full (for an Old World pinot) but with fine grained tannins and an effortless elegance.
YOU’D PAY $110 full price.
5 bottles of Maison Chanzy Les Fortunés Bourgogne Rouge 2020
4.0 Vivino (All Vintages)
Located in an old house that belonged to Vincent Leflaive, the Maison Chanzy in Puligny-Montrachet is a modern producer, crafting pristine wines across some of the best plots in Burgundy. This Bourgogne level 2020 is just a baby, after spending ten months in 450L cask and time in tank to integrate. A light-medium body, brimming with strawberry, cherries and fresh cut herbs, this is a really lovely wine, with particularly elegant tannins.
YOU’D PAY $55 full price.
