Why do we love this case?

The Boss is in town, and so are 11 of its mates! Hold onto your glasses people - this pack is the SHIRAZ edition. Get excited for a big, bad shiraz worth $100 - as well as 11 other mates.

Each case contains the below:

Optimus Shiraz 2018 - 1 bottle

Blackwood Valley, WA

Optimus...so appropriately named, as it’s derived from the Latin to describe ‘the best’ of something. And from this WA crew, it certainly is. It’s like a big warm bear hug on a blustery winter’s evening. Think blackberries and blood plums. Expect structure and power thanks to some heavy lifting done with a big dose of French oak. Dust off that classy little decanter of yours and let this single vineyard WA fav breathe while you prepare a protein rich food pairing and hopefully a dessert of hard cheeses. Enjoy this by the fire with your slippers on for ultimate enjoyment.

The 11 Mates

Shiraz Cabernet 2014 - 2 bottles

Padthaway, SA

Museum Release

Welcome to smooth town! This is powerful Padthaway shiraz and cabernet with soft red and purple fruits, complimented by a few years’ age and a touch of American oak. This wine is drinking at its prime and will reward you with many great winter drinking moments. It is in between medium and full-bodied, with bold plums and cherries and a quite savoury finish. I hate to use the term ‘winter warmer’ but it really is! Match with your choice of braise or Moussaka and you’ll feel toasty while you toast.

Shiraz 2017 - 1 bottle

Adelaide Hills, SA

94pts Halliday Wine Companion | Boutique Producer | Women in Wine

From the long and cool 2017 vintage comes a South Aussie shiraz that is moving into a drinking window that you’ll want to be a part of. The drinking, that is. It’s floral and full of berries on the nose - all lavender and cherries. The richness on the nose is matched on the palate, with the addition of plum and puckering cranberry. The richness is nestled in a medium-body, so this is the perfect wine for all sorts of dishes. Halliday’s Wine Companion gave it 94 points, all completely deserved - it is great quality wine!

Shiraz 2018 - 2 bottles

Limestone Coast, VIC

95pts Sam Kim | 5 Stars Sam Kim

When looking at a deal at this price, the question could be raised “yes that’s a great deal but what about the quality?” Well, we love it but don’t take our word for it. With a whopping 95 point score, be assured you’ll be just as happy with the quality as you are with the price. Wonderfully ripe and inviting, the perfumed bouquet shows dark fruit intensity combined with violet, vanillin oak, cocoa and subtle spice notes, leading to a concentrated palate that’s opulent and persistent. The wine is powerful and richly textured with excellent fruit purity, seamlessly framed by silky tannins. Drink now, it’s good to go!

Shiraz 2018 - 2 bottles

McLaren Vale, SA

93pts Wine Orbit | 90pts Halliday Wine Companion | 90 James Suckling

We’ve celebrated many vintages of this pure Vale goodness, a wine that has attained 13 consecutive vintages with 90+ points. We welcome back your black and blue fruits, distinctive vanilla-espresso (from a touch of new American oak), polished tannins and silky texture. Time to dust off the winter BBQ and get it ready for all of the steaks (or Portabello mushies) that you are going to cook to accompany this wonderful shiraz.

Shiraz 2015 - 2 bottles

Padthaway, SA

96pts Limestone Coast Wine Show | Gold Medal Limestone Coast Wine Show | Bronze Medal Aus & NZ Boutique Wine Show | Bronze Medal Aus Single Vineyard Wine Show

This shiraz is an absolute POWERHOUSE! A powerhouse of bold shiraz flavour and a wine that our mofos just can’t get enough of, from a producer who has become a solid favourite in the last year or so. The wine is deep and rich on the nose, with plum and a touch of eucalypt. We suggest decanting to get most of these complex aromas. On the palate, it’s full-bodied with drive and all the berries and plums you could want. The wine has seen a bit of new oak, both French and American and shows vanilla and spice. Now five-years-old, the fruit and oak are well integrated and the tannins are fine and abundant.

Everyone at the table will be angling for that last glass from the bottle.
