Why do we love this case?

Spain and Portugal have made their mark on the world of wine with their amazing reds and Sherry and Port respectively. This smashable summer pack shows another side to the Peninsula, with fizz, whites and rosé. These are the wines that Iberians are sipping beach-side from the Costa Brava to Lagos. There’s the famous albariño and lesser known Vinho Verde, two delicious Cavas and a couple of wines from Bodegas Olivares, whose wines we’ve been enjoying for years now.

Each pack contains TWO of the following:

This Cava from Vins el Cep in Penedès is not only from certified organic vineyards, but also made from the traditional local Cava varieties of xarel-lo, macabeo and parellada. The wine has perfect balance in my opinion. Complexity, yes, but not at the expense of vibrancy and purity of fruit. It’s brilliant drinking - dry as a bone and wickedly refreshing, with enough fruitiness to draw you in, and enough depth to keep you thinking. Wine has apparently been made on this patch of land since at least 1499, so you can be sure it’s a good spot for it.

Spanish Import

This Brut Cava has spent twelve months on lees gaining complexity, but not too long as to lose freshness. It’s dry and softly aromatic, with grapefruit and guava on the nose, and green apple singing on the palate. It’s incredibly drinkable and a great place to start your journey with wonderful Spanish fizz.

Mofo Fave

In the seafood heaven that is Galicia in Spain’s northwest, it’s albariño that is both king and queen of grapes. Always fresh, always available and always at home on a table brimming with the local catch. It’s the variety that put Rias Baixas on the map and keeps it there. Pepe tastes as fresh and youthful as he looks, with a nose full of apples, pears and peaches, drizzled in citrus and sprinkled in honeysuckle flowers. Just a touch of sweetness on the palate is driven by all the crisp and fresh fruit to a clean, satisfying finish.

New to the Fo
Portuguese Import

This is the first time we’ve had the famous Portuguese ‘Vinho Verde’ or green wine on our site, which is named after the region from which it comes. So, what to expect from this exotic wine? There’s a bit of a spritz upon opening and the wine is light and bright, herbaceous and a bit grassy. Imagine riesling meets sauv blanc. It’s a great, refreshing style for the summer and although showing citrus and green apple, is not overly fruity, but rather minerally and textural and would play a wonderful supporting role with food. It’s a touch lighter than many whites at 10.5% alcohol - perfect for a long lunch.

The freshest rosé in all of Iberia, and maybe even Europe, is back at the ’fo for a fabulous fifth vintage. Beautifully crisp and refreshing, it’s like a dive into a cool pool on a hot day. Only, instead of pool toys, you have strawberries, raspberries and a zesty hint of orange peel to keep things fun and fruity. Keep it chilled and ready to go at a moment’s notice. This is so perfect for sunny weather, even your doctor would prescribe it. Probably.

From the Jumilla region of Spain, that sun-drenched part of the world has concentrated all its life-force into this ferociously smashable white. Bright acidity and citrus flavours make it zippy right from the get-go, but a warm climate allows for some charmingly sunny orange, peach and spicy notes, too.
