Why do we love this case?

This bomb of a case goes from juicy-fresh to seriously savoury. From a glorious mix of mild and warm climates, there’s a red in here for every occasion. Bright and floral to big and bold, these reds are ANYTHING but simple.

Each case contains TWO of each of the following:

Mofo Fave

When one of our favourite winemakers in the King Valley asks us to come around and taste a few bottles, we come running. He’s a gun with the usual suspects from the region - sangiovese, pinot grigio and, of course, prosecco - but also one of the few that makes shiraz and cabernet fit to stand alongside some of the nation’s best. This classic Aussie blend is medium-bodied, bright, ripe with plum and cassis, and finishes with fine, fine tannins.

This is a fantastic little Limestone Creek number from CW Wines. It's wonderfully ripe and inviting, the perfumed nose showing dark fruit intensity combined with lavander, cocoa and subtle spices, leading to a concentrated palate that’s bold and booming. The wine is powerful and richly textured with excellent fruit purity, seamlessly framed by silky tannins.

Mofo fave

They’re not joking when they say ‘shiraz blend’. This delicious wine has been put together from select parcels of McLaren Vale cabernet, merlot, grenache, cab franc and mataro. That’s not forgetting, of course, the major shiraz component. There are loads of big, rich ripe fruits, of course, but a certain elegance pervades its mosaic-like palate. There are soft, subtle nuances in flavour you wouldn’t get from a straight variety alone. Alongside fruit-cake berries sit coffee grounds, dried herbs and a soft tickle of baking spice. Something a little different from Haselgrove, and very welcome at that.

Domaine Gayda started as a staging post for weary travellers and their horses all the way back in 1749. In 2004, the property was converted into a winery, accommodation and restaurant. They source grapes from throughout the Languedoc region to make wines in both traditional and modern styles. This Flying Solo wine is a 60/40 blend of grenache and syrah from Minervois, one of the top areas in the region. It’s medium-bodied with soft tannins, a smooth palate and an energetic burst of bright red fruits. Simply enjoyable, gluggable and relax-on-the-deck-able wine.

Five Star Halliday Rated Producer

Clare and cabernet go together like peas and carrots; thanks to typically warm S.A. days yet surprisingly cool evenings due to some serious elevation (480m for this specific vineyard, to be precise). The result is powerful and dark fruit notes alongside graceful elegance with natural retention of acidity to provide all the length you could hope for. Clare Wine Co. has secured a vineyard in the highly sought after sub region of Polish Hill with vines now over 20 years old. With a good few years under its belt, this drop is ready for the cap to be popped and enjoyed with your nearest and dearest.
