Why do we love this case?

Oh shiraz! Our one and only national obsession and love affair! This collection of shirazes is anything but ordinary. From your special bottle to your weekday quaffer, we’ve got you covered. From elegant and poised, to rich and raucous, there’s a little bit of everything and more. And because we love it so much we’ve decided to dedicate this pack to one and only Barossa Valley.

Each pack contains TWO bottles each of the following:

Shiraz 2018

Barossa Valley, SA

Look out for the power of the 2018 vintage, loaded with dark plums, purple fruits and a great big whack of oak and tannins. This year’s season produced juice of incredible quality, loaded to the brim with dark berries, plums and dramatic spices. Maturation in American oak gives both delightful toastiness and a fabulously creamy and coconut-rich finish. It’s big,  bold, and ballsy drinking to sink your teeth into at important family get-togethers. This beast will cellar for a decade or more, easily. That’s no reason to shy away from opening it though. We’re betting this lion won’t stay caged for long.

Shiraz 2018

Barossa Valley, SA

5 Red Star Halliday Rated Winery | Women in Wine

You could be forgiven for thinking every Barossa shiraz is essentially the same. It’s true that there is a common thread running through them, one of dense fruit concentration, deep inky colour and a bit of earthiness. But the different corners of the valley, the variety of winemaking techniques and of course the quality of the fruit all make a difference. This one comes from a team that has been involved in wine for decades and is able to source high-end fruit from talented growers. They’ve given this bold wine plenty of time in oak, allowing for the integration of some counterbalancing vanillin and tannin to the intense raspberry and jube fruits and subtle spiciness. It’s big, it’s rich and it’s complex...great Barossa shiraz in a nutshell.

Shiraz 2016

Barossa Valley, SA

94pts Sam Kim | 5 Stars Sam Kim | 5 Star Halliday Rated Winery

2+2=4. Barossa shiraz + talented producer = amazing wine. It really is a simple equation. This producer knows exactly what they are doing with their fruit and the end result is always a smashing wine. This shiraz has a few years of age on it, which has served to soften it a touch whilst still maintaining that oomph that makes the Barossa style so distinct and popular. The fruit is concentrated in the form of blackcurrant and plum, and there is a touch of earthiness underneath it all. On the finish, it’s a display of fine tannins and length, rounding out an easy-drinking wine that’ll please anyone who digs luscious shiraz.

Shiraz 2018

Barossa Valley, SA

95pts Sam Kim | 5 Stars Wine Orbit | Single Vineyard

Here is another vintage of big, bold Barossa goodness, the one year younger version of a wine that our mofos couldn’t get enough of!! It’s classic, powerful, rich Barossa shiraz with all the trimmings. A solid full-bodied palate, overflowing with fruit, spice and deliciousness. There is depth and complexity in the richness, with well-integrated tannin and a long finish. It’s from the lauded sub-region of Vine Vale, where the best of the best are grown, resulting in a raucously ripe and powerfully plush profile that shiraz lovers across the country are sure to enjoy.

GSM 2016

Barossa Valley, SA

Rosenvale is one of our favourite up-and-comers from the Barossa, this rich, powerful GSM shows us exactly why. The raspberry characteristic, derived from the grenache component, is the dominant fruit, with support from plum and blackberry hints carried by the shiraz. To round it all out, there’s a bit of allspice and earthiness thanks to the mataro. It’s bold, deep in flavour and perfectly aged after four years.

YOU’D PAY $35 full price.

GSM 2015

Barossa Valley, SA

5 Red Star Halliday Rated Producer

Produced by one of the Barossa’s best wineries, this gsm is sourced from vines that are up to 90 years old. It’s leaning more towards medium rather than full-bodied and has all the texture and savouriness expected for the blend. It’s spicy and full of dark fruits leading into a long, long finish with fine tannins gained from extended time in older oak.

YOU’D PAY $25 full price.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
