Why do we love this case?

Oh shiraz! Our one and only national obsession and love affair! This collection of shiraz is anything but ordinary. From your special bottle to your weekday quaffer, we’ve got you covered. From elegant and poised to rich and raucous, there’s a little bit of everything and more.

Each case contains TWO of each of the following:

Shiraz 2018

McLaren Vale, SA

95pts Sam Kim | 5 Stars Sam Kim | 5 Red Star Halliday Rated Winery

McLaren Vale shiraz, yes, but lithe and vibrant. A more medium-bodied feel leaves room for the lively fruit flavours to sing, unshackled from big, beefy, old-school styles. Classic brambly goodness skates on a fresh sheet of acidity, with just enough grippy tannin to keep it grounded. Miraculously food-friendly, there’s all the ingredients here for an infamous dinner party red. The kind you and your mates are liable to enjoy a wee bit too much of an evening.

YOU’D PAY $40 full price.

Shiraz 2018

Grampians, VIC

93pts Wine Business Magazine | Boutique Producer | Single Vineyard | Vegan Friendly

This syrah is from the town of Great Western, in the Grampians region of Western Victoria. This small town is famous for having some of the country’s oldest shiraz vines and producing bold and compelling reds that are a bit fuller than many Victorian wines. This wine, made by a small producer, is medium bodied with an intriguing palate that starts with herbaceous notes and then moves to red plums, and then to blackberries and classic Grampians Dutch licorice. It’s really compelling with abundant fine tannins, and very broad appeal.

YOU’D PAY $35 full price.

Shiraz 2019

South Africa

Single Vineyard | Women in Wine

This South African syrah is rich, voluptuous and loaded with blackberries and spices under a bouquet of heady violets. The grapes are hand-harvested, and sorted in the cool of the cellar to use only the very best fruit. 15% of it gets to see a bit of new French oak, before being blended back into the rest of the wine. The result is a caress of oak rather than a punch, that lets the fruit do the talking. It’s remarkably characterful and charming, and offers fantastic value for money. Oh, and it’s pretty damn delicious.

YOU’D PAY $35 full price.

Shiraz 2019

McLaren Vale, SA

95pts Sam Kim | 5 Red Star Halliday Rated Winery | 5 Stars Sam Kim

This producer has to be one of the most consistently excellent wineries in McLaren Vale. Many of their wines get scores in the high-90s year after year and we reckon this wine may have the same fate, so were happy to get in before the reviews. The flavour’s there and the points will come. This one is McLaren Vale to a tee with all the dark, ripe berries, chocolate and spice you could want. It’s full-bodied and absolutely delightful. Trust us, mofo, this stuff is awesome.

YOU’D PAY $30 full price.

Shiraz 2019

Clare Valley, SA

Single Vineyard

Clare Valley shiraz...always smooth, always aromatic, always delicious. This one is sourced from one of the most elevated vineyards in the Clare, which provides great drainage and slow, steady ripening. This leads to complexity, concentration and bright varietal fruit in the form of plum and blueberry. There’s also a nice whack of oak here, giving a hint of toastiness and some savoury notes. The perfect balance in an SA shiraz.

YOU’D PAY $30 full price.

Shiraz Blend 2019

Corbières, FR

Corbières is the leading appellation of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in southwest France. The region is famous for powerful red blends and this is a very classy example of their place.  The wine has a deep dark colour and dense cassis, forest floor and red currants on the nose. The palate starts very elegantly and then boom - here’s the juicy fruit! It’s a superbly drinkable and beautifully spiced medium-bodied wine.

YOU’D PAY $26 full price.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
