Why do we love this case?

Oh shiraz! Our one and only national obsession and love affair! This collection of shiraz is anything but ordinary. From your special bottle to your weekday quaffer, we’ve got you covered. From elegant and poised to rich and raucous, there’s a little bit of everything and more.

Each case contains TWO of each of the following:

Shiraz 2018

Barossa Valley, SA

95pts Sam Kim | 5 Stars Sam Kim

This year’s season produced juice of incredible quality, loaded to the brim with dark berries, plums and dramatic spices. Maturation in American oak gives both delightful toastiness and a fabulously creamy and coconut-rich finish. It’s big,  bold, and ballsy drinking to sink your teeth into at important family get-togethers. This beast will cellar for a decade or more, easily. That’s no reason to shy away from opening it though. We’re betting this lion won’t stay caged for long.

Shiraz 2018

McLaren Vale, SA

5 Star Halliday Rated Winery

McLaren Vale shiraz, yes, but lithe and vibrant. A more medium-bodied feel leaves room for the lively fruit flavours to sing, unshackled from big, beefy, old-school styles. Classic brambly goodness skates on a fresh sheet of acidity, with just enough grippy tannin to keep it grounded. Miraculously food-friendly, there’s all the ingredients here for an infamous dinner party red. The kind you and your mates are liable to enjoy a wee bit too much of an evening. The previous two vintages of this garnered a more-than-respectable 95 points from Mr. Halliday himself. We got in quick with this year’s, but expect similar accolades to be awarded soon enough.

Shiraz 2019

Great Southern, WA

5 Star Halliday Rated Winery

Ever fallen backwards into a hedge? Ever gone bramble picking by diving face-first into the bush? We wouldn’t advise either, frankly. But for all that wonderful berry-rich flavour, with herbaceous crunch and wild, savoury complexity, you could just have a glass of this. It’s a far more refined solution to getting the experience of being engulfed in that herbal, savoury goodness.

Shiraz 2019

McLaren Vale, SA

94pts Winestate | 94pts Sam Kim | 5 Stars Sam Kim | 5 Star Halliday Rated Producer

Welcome back to the ’fo, the little shiraz that could. We’ve celebrated many vintages of this pure Vale goodness, a wine that has attained 14 consecutive vintages with 90+ points. We welcome back your black and blue fruits, distinctive vanilla-espresso (from a touch of new American oak), polished tannins and silky texture. Time to dust off the winter BBQ and get it ready for all of the steaks (or Portobello mushies) that you are going to cook to accompany this wonderful shiraz.

YOU’D PAY $25 full price.

Shiraz 2020

Limestone Coast, SA

South Australia’s Limestone Coast is not quite as famous as a few neighbouring regions, and as a result the value to be found there is staggering. Take this delicious shiraz from a rock solid mofo fave producer. At this price, get set for your mind to be blown! It’s got beautiful intensity, with ripe raspberry highlights on the nose, and a velvety-smooth palate. Add in some earthiness and black fruits, plus a few seeds of vanilla bean and you’ll see why we are impressed. It’s a hearty wine for celebrating life, effortlessly matching to all kinds of winter fare and not having to think twice as you crack open a second or third bottle.

YOU’D PAY $25 full price.

Shiraz Blend 2019

South Africa

Boutique Producer

We love South African wine here at the ‘fo and have been looking out for a great-quality, great-value producer for the last couple of years. This one is a syrah blend, with the usual Rhône partners of mourvedre, grenache and cinsault completing the mix. It’s a medium-bodied wine with a vibrant nose and textured mouthfeel. Each variety plays its roll to produce a red-fruited, spicy wine with a savoury finish. Fans of McLaren Vale and CDR - it may be time for something new?

YOU’D PAY $25 full price.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
