Why do we love this case?

Oh shiraz! Our one and only national obsession and love affair! This collection of shirazes is anything but ordinary. From your special bottle to your weekday quaffer, we’ve got you covered. From elegant and poised, to rich and raucous, there’s a little bit of everything and more.

Here’s some more on each of the included vinos (TWO of each):

Shiraz 2017

Barossa Valley, SA

95pts Sam Kim | Gold Medal Wine Showcase | 94pts Wine Showcase | Single Vineyard | Boutique Producer

Big, bold, baronial Barossa shiraz. Power, riches and class are there in spades. Depth and complexity, too, but no nasty surprises. Just that winning formula that has made Barossa shiraz the national drink of Australia. From the lauded sub-region of Vine Vale, this beast was grown in sandy soils, producing a raucously ripe and powerfully plush profile that shiraz lovers across the country are sure to enjoy.

Shiraz 2015

King Valley, VIC

Five Star Halliday Rated Winery | Boutique producer

Silky-smooth shiraz on the mind...it’s getting a little chilly outside and I’m keen on some easy-drinking, belly-warming red wine. This’ll fit the bill perfectly. It’s got a touch of spiciness and earthiness with a fruit profile leaning towards plums. Plus it’s reserve level, so it’s a barrel selection of the best juice in the cellar. Bring on the cold!

Shiraz 2016

Orange, NSW

94pts Halliday Wine Companion | Five Red Star Halliday Rated Winery | Single Vineyard

If you are a shiraz lover who hasn’t discovered the gems of NSW’s Orange region, then this well-crafted, cool climate drop would be a great intro. A firm palate is packed with fruit and savoury notes - bright plum and cherry are accompanied by heaps of spice and a touch of tobacco. Just a touch. Tannins are present, but not forceful. Great drinking from those looking to broaden their shiraz palate.

Shiraz 2017

Heathcote, VIC

94pts Sam Kim | Five Stars Sam Kim | 5 red star Halliday rated winery

The grapes for this unmistakably Heathcote shiraz come from a prime selection of vineyards from across the region. It’s like they’ve taken elements from the body, and distilled them to capture the soul of the place. For me, these wines are all about cherries and brick dust. That’s here in spades. Plump, vibrant red fruits and dusty, savoury undertones make for something at once elegant and unpretentious.

 YOU’D PAY $35 full price.

Shiraz Blend 2017

Southern Fleurieu, SA

95pts James Halliday | Special Value Award - James Halliday | 5 red star Halliday rated winery

2017 wines of the region are marked by a medium bodied liveliness that’s quite remarkable. This is no different. On display are still the juicy plums and warming spices you’d expect from a South Aussie, but there’s an extra gear of drive that it kicks into deftly. There’s room for cellaring here, with today’s brightness promising tomorrow’s complexity. A 12 month stint in 300 litre hogsheads only enhances that classic flavour with an extra dash of depth. Fan-bloody-tastic!

 YOU’D PAY $27 full price.

Shiraz 2018

McLaren Vale, SA

McLaren Vale might just be the most consistently excellent region for shiraz in Australia. And we’ve got one here made by one of the nicest guys there. It’s rich, supple, a bit earthy and full of approachable fruit. Don’t be fooled by the modest RRP. This punches way above its weight as do all of the wines from this favourite of ours.

 YOU’D PAY $19 full price.

What is a Black Market deal?

Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
