Why do we love this case?

There’s a reason sav blanc has taken the world by storm. For crisp and refreshing, but also massively flavoursome, drinking, it’s just about the best grape for the job. Any naysayers are just jealous their faves taste bland in comparison! Ok there’s room for everyone at the ‘fo, but this savvy lineup is made with devotees in mind. From clean minerality to passionfruit punch, there’s the whole spectrum of savvy styles to savour. Plus, there’s an extra bottle of each - so you get to revisit your faves!

Each case contains TWO bottles of the following:

James Halliday Five Red Star Winery

We are big fan of The Lane in the Adelaide Hills - they make consistently delicious, great quality wines that really show off the cool climate region. This sauv blanc is all about freshness - from the passionfruit, florals and fresh herbs on the nose, to the acid that drives the palate and long finish.

Great sauv blanc is being produced in the King Valley. Who knew? Well, Twin Valleys did. It sorta makes sense that an area that can produce bright, crisp pinot grigio can do the same with savvy b. This one is all tropical fruit and gooseberries, backed up by a softer acidity. In layman’s terms, that means that it makes for some easy drinking. So let Twin Valleys do all the hard work in growing the grapes and making the wine. You just relax and pour yourself a glass (or two).

Single Vineyard

You won't find this Signature Wines down at the local bottle-o and you'll be very happy we included it in this pack! This is no normal ‘everyday' savvy bee. From a single vineyard in the heart of the Adelaide Hills this wine has beautiful elegance often lacking in more entry level sauvignon blancs. Not tropical or grassy; rather, fresh and racy, generous, but zippy. Lemon zest and grapefruit pith abound and you may notice how the wine will ‘flesh out’ once the chill is taken off the glass.

Bendigo Hills is a project from the esteemed mofo fave, Rock Ferry, who are based in Central Otago, but also source organically farmed grapes in Marlborough. If there’s one thing Marlborough does well, it’s sauvignon blanc. And let me tell you, Bendigo Hills have outdone themselves here. Elegance and freshness are the first two things that come to mind, a slightly herbaceous nose, classic gooseberry and passionfruit dance on the tongue and racy citrus ties the wine together to create a seemingly perfect drop.

If you head over to Central Wairau in Marlborough, you’ll find the idyllic Caythorpe Family Estate. Its vineyard sits over light silt and alluvial gravels, enjoying longs days of summer sun and cool autumn nights. You’ll find the typical hallmarks of Marlborough savvy bee here, with passionfruit, gooseberry and even a touch of minerality, all lifted beautifully by citrusy acid. It’s crisp and refreshing, fitting the bill for lovers of the style.

With an impressive yet deserved 94 points to its name and a wonderful Cam Douglas review to boot, Nga Waka leaves us little choice but to dive into this excellent example of Martinborough sauvignon blanc. There’s more than meets the eye here with subtlety and complexity on show due to an array of nuanced tropical aromas balanced nicely with vibrant citrus acidity. Grassy herbs and stony minerality leave the palate fresh and clean and yearning for another sip. Nothing is over the top or out of whack and the more you sip this stunning Kiwi, the more you’ll find there is to explore.
