There’s your typical hit of pungent gooseberry and passionfruit but then it steps up a notch, with citrus leaf and underlying guava showing its hand. The palate follows suit but theres more texture and complexity here than usual, with the fruit sitting on a beautiful backbone of schisty minerality and lip-licking acidity. It’s this Chablis-like core of minerality and acidity that launches this wine beyond the norm. Dee-lish! Kick back with some Thai style coriander and chilli prawns to turn the wick up.

The Yarra Valley and savvy are not commonly associated, but Boat O’Craigo make a great case that they should be. It’s been hand-picked and pressed in whole bunches. 20% of it is then fermented in French Oak followed by four months of maturation on lees. All that carefully considered winemaking produces a gorgeous, interesting style. It’s crisp and fresh, but also structured and very food friendly. You’ll easily recognise it as savvy, but it’s got just enough going on to give you something to think about, too. It’s just a ridiculously enjoyable wine.
