Château La Borie, one of the few domains in Côtes-du-Rhône bearing the name Château, was built in the 17th century. Since then, it has passed through several families and is under the care of the Margnat family today. Situated ten kilometres from the left bank of the Rhône river, the winery produces four wines from its 75 hectares of vines. La Borie’s rosé, composed of mostly grenache with a touch of syrah, comes from a small 3 hectare plot of vines over clay, marl and stone. Fermentation in cement vats keeps the fruit purity (think strawberries) in the foreground, making for a bright, yet slightly musky wine with light colour, a delicate nose and a touch of spice on the finish.

From the team at Herència Altés in Terra Alta, who delight us with wonderful wines every year, comes their take on rosé, rosat. This gorgeous bottle of grenache-y goodness goes down a little too easy at times! You’ll notice the grape is ‘garnacha negra’, the Catalan name for the variety grenache that we love so much. In a rosé like this, you get all the beautiful berries and cherries, while retaining crisp, refreshing acidity. At home on a table brimming with a Mediterranean feast, or simply in a glass to mark the end of a day - this rosé is sure to please.

It’s not apparent from the name, but this rocking Rhône rosé is from Domaine Raymond Usseglio, one of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape superstars. We reckon this is what they like to kick back with after a long, tiring day of tasting mega-complex Châteauneuf. And if it’s good enough for the winemaker, it’s good enough for us. Bright, sweet-fruited, crisp and absurdly refreshing, this is about the best accompaniment to a sunny day you can find. It may not be the most serious of wines, but it’s seriously good wine.

This is a wine that’ll take you places. It’s from Carillion's vineyard in Wrattonbully, one that provides cool climate pinot noir source fruit with an expression of strawberry, orange and peach. The wine’s got minerality, a savoury sweet hit (think toffee) and a crisp, refreshing finish. A rosé for most any day.

Maybe Nadia Langenegger and her team at False Bay Vineyards in South Africa are putting a bit too much love and attention into their wines. We’re certainly not complaining, but rosè at this price with this sort of work involved? We’re talking sustainable farming, hand harvesting, natural ferments and even vegan friendly. It’s a bit ridiculous. And what’s in the bottle? Ridiculously good wine. 100% cinsault (a native of the south of France and perfect for rosé) is crafted into a delicate pink wine here that expresses strawberries, musk and minerality all leading to a dry finish. Thank you Nadia!

We’d fly solo to get to this rosé! In fact we would also swim, jump, run and scoot there too. Joining us all the way from Pays d’Oc in France, this crisp drop is the perfect addition to go in the esky at your next picnic. Jam packed with all the lively summer fruits and aromas of strawberries and cream, this baby will go excellently as an aperitif, or with appetisers and snacks. Make sure you chill before you open ‘cause it won’t stay in the fridge long once you’ve had your first glass!
